“Music, great music, distends the spirit, arouses profound emotions and almost naturally invites us to raise our minds and hearts to God in all situations of human existence, the joyful and the sad. Music can become prayer.”
-Pope Benedict XVI
I love listening to worship music. I started listening to it in 2008 and somehow, lyrics always have the words that are deep in my heart. What’s even more amazing is how so many times, the right song comes on at the right time. Aside from hymns we sing during Mass, the very first worship song I fell in love with was “My Beloved” by Cory Asbury. I don’t remember the very first song I listened to, but I remember being in someone else’s car and they were listening to Star 99.1, our local Christian radio station.
It’s been 11 years, and I’ve been hooked since. Even before I knew where I stood in my faith, the station quickly became one of my favorites.
Now, whenever I hear a new song that I fall in love with, I google the lyrics and add the song onto my Spotify playlist. My favorites are constantly changing, and the list goes beyond this, but here are 10 of my current favorite worship songs:
- King of My Heart- Bethel Music
2. Raise a Hallelujah
3. Symphony- Switch
4. Reckless Love- Leanna Crawford (cover)
5. Surrounded (Fight My Battles)- Michael W. Smith
6. Do It Again- Elevation Worship
7. Set A Fire- Will Reagan and United Pursuit Band
8. Born Again- Third Day
9. Find Rest- Francesca Battistelli
10. You Say- Lauren Daigle
